Volkswagen Group Global Deliveries Fall for the Year

11 January 2025

Volkswagen Group reported a 2.3% drop in global vehicle deliveries for 2024, falling to just over 9 million units, as weakness in China outweighed gains in North and South America.

Battery-electric vehicle sales fell 3.4% worldwide, even as EV demand grew within China itself, highlighting how intense local competition was reshaping the market rather than simply shrinking it. Rival German automakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW reported similar declines tied to the same challenging Chinese market conditions.

AUSMAH continues to track how established manufacturers are adjusting their strategies as competition from Chinese EV brands accelerates across nearly every major global market.
