Toyota Recalls New bZ4X Electric SUV Over Wheel Detachment Risk

13 June 2022

Toyota issued a global recall of its newly launched bZ4X electric crossover, just two months after its release, after discovering that hub bolts could loosen and allow a wheel to detach while driving.

The company advised all 2,700 affected owners worldwide not to drive their vehicles until a fix was available, marking one of the most serious stop-drive orders issued for a newly launched electric vehicle. Toyota later confirmed a repair involving redesigned hub bolts.
